Pirate 2 Slot Machine

From the developers at Igrosoft comes a sequel to their hit video slots game Pirate, aptly named Pirate 2. This developer may not be known for their flashy names, but what they are known for is consistently making well-designed, quality games that appeal to a wide range of players.

Perhaps the popularity of Pirate spurned the developers to make a sequel, which isn’t so much a surprise when you think about it. Igrosoft seems to have taken the elements from what made the first one great and built upon it in the second, while still keeping in touch with the old feel and charm of the original. But we haven’t delved into the gameplay yet, so how does it stack up to the original as well as Igrosoft’s overall repertoire?

Carrying a Swashbucklers Charm

No doubt you are a fan of Igrosoft’s casino games. While the Russian developer has only been around since the 1990s, many of their games have attracted a fan following on the Internet on account of their gameplay and high jackpots. You can immediately tell that this is an Igrosoft game merely by looking at the graphical design and interface, as the game already looks to be engaging, brightly coloured, and fun simply at a glance.

Pirate 2 has the simple, colourful, and charming appearance that most Igrosoft’s games have. I will note that most of the graphic assets were reused from the first Pirate game, which means that there is little visual differentiation between the two games. While the art style is great, we feel that the reuse of imagery was a bit disappointing – we would have liked to see something a bit different.

However, the structure of the interface is certainly different in design, if not in function – it looks like the game is actually taking place inside of an old video slots machine from the 1990s, which I thought was a cool touch. But in spite of the similarities, the game still looks and runs great. The cute animations give the game a bit of extra charisma as well.

Bank Plenty of Pirate Booty

Pirate 2 boasts many of the same features seen in other Igrosoft games. The game utilises a standard 5x3 reel system and offers nine rewarding paylines, with each one allowing you to bet up to 25 coins (to compensate for the fact that you cannot change your coin denomination – Pirate 2 is no mere penny slots title!).

The interface below allows you to adjust the number of paylines active, as well as bet high/low, access the pay table, spin the reels, and trigger the auto-spinner if you don’t want to get carpal tunnel from clicking the spin button over and over.

As is always the case with Igrosoft, Pirate 2 gives you serious opportunity to make some major bank. The base jackpot of 5,000 coins can be multiplied greatly by betting more than one coin per payline. Perhaps it is for that reason that the developers didn’t give you the chance to win any free spins.

However, you do get scatter and wild symbols, the former of which trigger Pirate 2’s bonus game. Like its predecessor, Pirate 2 allows you to go double or nothing on every winning spin – you simply pick a facedown card, and if that card’s value exceeds that of the dealer’s you double your winnings. If it’s lower, you lose everything, and if it’s equal, you get what you would have earned.

Like Shooting Fish in a Barrel

The second bonus game lets you pick prizes from a variety of barrels. Pick the bones and you’ll lose, but if you manage to get all the prizes without selecting the bones, you’ll be sent to yet another room. Here, you must guess the colour of dice held in a pair of chests. Guess correctly and you can win some massive prizes, including the game’s overall jackpot prize.

Sail the Wild Seas

Pirate 2 is every bit as good as its predecessor and in many ways it’s just like its predecessor too. Pirate 2 features the same strong gameplay, great graphics, and big prizes as the original, but it doesn’t really offer much that sets it apart from the first game in the series. But that might not be such a bad thing – Pirate remains one of Igrosoft’s most popular video slots games for a reason.

Pirate 2 offers the same type of gameplay that made the first one so great, which is no doubt why they decided to stay the course. While it is rather derivative, Pirate 2 still stands as an excellent addition to Igrosoft’s library of video slots games.
