Farm Slot

For those of you familiar with GamesOS video slots games, you’ll no doubt recognise the distinctive visual style that they utilise within their titles. Farm Slots looks as though somebody took the ideas present in Farmville (the famous Facebook game) and turned them into a video slots experience. While GameOS is a developer widely known for its “Freaky” series (see my fave, Freaky Wild West), they certainly aren’t a brand that is afraid to branch out and try new ideas, as this is exactly what they’ve done with Farm Slots.

Given that this game represents new for the developer, many are wondering how Farm Slots compares to GamesOS’ other works?

Planting A Seed

Boasting a vibrant and colourful palette not unlike that found in their other games, Farm Slots looks beautiful and luscious. The foreground’s rich adornment of fruits and vegetables compliments the idyllic field in the background, cohesively merging the two into an all-encompassing sensation that you are sitting in a tranquil farmer’s field somewhere out in rural America.

The soundtrack is equally fantastic and well suited to the theme, albeit somewhat repetitive after a while. Towards the bottom you can see all of the options available to you, but the function of the indicators below the spin and bet buttons are not immediately obvious. Moving your mouse over it offers an explanation that delineates its purpose.

Life On The Farm

Functionally wise Farm Slots mostly plays like your typical video slots game. There are 30 paylines available on a 5x3 reel setup. On the left hand side, you have an auto-spin button that allows you to spin five or ten times in a row. Moving right, you have the option to change your coin denomination (from 0.2 to 2 units of currency), the number of paylines in play, the option to bet everything, and finally your spin button. Clicking the “PAYTABLE” button above the auto-spinner brings you to a sub-menu that further explains all of the game’s details.

Reaping What You Sow

Fitting in with the theme of the game, Farm Slots gives you the chance to cultivate your very own farm. Each time you get a winning spin with any of the fruit or vegetable symbols, a seed is planted in your garden. If it’s already full, it is deposited in the toolbar below the spin and bet buttons. Each plant takes a certain number of spins to fully cultivate, and getting two or more fertiliser symbols on the reels multiplies the final earnings you receive when the plant reaches fruition.

Clicking the “SHOW FARM” key on either side of the reels will take you to the farm, where you can check the progress and value of your seeded crops. When you have available spaces, click the red buttons next to the plants on the bottom to plant them.

Harvesting A Reward

Remember how we said the game mostly plays like a typical video slots game? Farm Slots boasts a singular feature that might just make this one of the best video slots games on the Internet. Farm Slots features a FreakyPot, seen in some of other GamesOS works. For those of you who don’t know, the FreakyPot is a feature that saves a small portion of your winnings and pays it out to you later, sometimes multiplying what went into it. But that’s not the unique part, what’s unique is how the FreakyPot is used.

Farm Slots doesn’t feature a progressive jackpot, a score multiplier, free spins or a wild symbol. But when you look at what this game offers, it doesn’t actually need them to stand out. In addition to the really cool application of the FreakyPot, Farm Slots also has a Whac-a-Mole bonus game, which is triggered by getting at least three mole symbols on any of the active paylines. You have to smack moles coming out of nine holes using a mallet, and when the time limit is up you are given rewards based on how many you hit. It’s a cool way to win additional prizes, and the skill element means that quick reflexes will earn you a fat prize.

Fields Of Gold

They should have named this game Freaky Farm Slots, because this game is freakily good. Farm Slots boasts perhaps more features than any other video slots games I’ve played, with just the farming section alone making this game feel like a gambler’s Farmville. The lack of a few features like wild symbols and free spins doesn’t hurt this game one bit as there are still tons of options to win, lots of paylines, large coin sizes, and the spin-contingent farm bonuses deviously encourage you to spin the reels again and again. Seriously, drop what you are doing and start playing Farm Slots!
